The area still has plenty of shopping, restaurants and entertainment along the main street and yet from the beach front properties it feels a world away from the hustle and bustle of Kuta. Set directly on Legian Beach, the Jayakarta Bali Resort and Spa with its wide range of accommodation, friendly and helpful service and reasonable rates has long been one of Bali’s most popular beach front resorts. In addition to offering full use of the resorts facilities. Enjoy the latest in tropical modern style at this beach front resort in Bali’s beautiful Legian perfect for families and friends traveling together. Until recently this used to be a rather rural, mostly residential area, stretching a few miles north from Legian. Good, off-white, sandy beach with powerful waves and some strong currents, and getting less crowded the further you move to the North. Fast increasing number of hotels and villas, good but reasonably priced restaurants and Bali’s most interesting pubs and discos as well as shops selling casual wear, furniture, antiques, decorative items and handicrafts. The local Legian Beach is patrolled and a really good beach for surfing & swimming just be careful of rips. At first you will be hassled by beach sellers for watches, hats, cheap jewellery or a massage. The beach locals are honest, friendly people. Don’t get frustrated enjoy the experience and have a joke with them. They are just trying to earn a living. Negotiate a set rate for lounges, boogie boards etc. 20,000Rph for each use of these i.e.; 2-3 hours is a good starting point and then use this rate for the rest of your holiday as once a deal is negotiated you don’t have to re-negotiate each time if you use the same hirer. Shopping, restaurants and nightlife are all close by, but most visitors take the opportunity to unwind. Relax by the pool or on the beach and enjoy long walks amongst Legian’s small intimate streets. Legian is a favorite of many past visitors and continues to be a popular alternative to Kuta. You can experience Bali on many different excursions and guided tours by coach, private car or Scooter / Motorbike, by boat or by air plane: seeing Bali’s beaches and rice terraces, the famous Besakih Temple on the slopes of holy Mount Agung, Lake Batur and it’s active volcano, Ubud which is a great day trip to see the arts, crafts and the inactive volcano, Legian, Kuta, Nusa Dua, and the temples of Tanah Lot and Ulu Watu are also great places to visit for a special experience. Legian is the area just north of Kuta. It is a favorite of many past visitors and continues to be a popular alternative to Kuta. Start your trip with Legian if you love the beach. Ubud is wonderful for arts and culture with a quiet leisurely pace. A nice place to finish your trip is Jimbaran Bay as it has wonderful seafood restaurants right on the beach and does not have the hawkers like in Kuta or Legian.
Another quick word of advice is to Be careful of changing money on the street. Always try to use an official money changer. If you see a money changer that is advertising a rate to good to be true then believe me it will be to good to be true. These scrupulous operators can miss count your money and short change you with out blinking an eyelid. I will give you more information on the do’s and don’ts in Bali in my next article. I hope you have a wonderful time in Bali and wish you a nice stay at the
Jayakarta Bali Beach Front Resort and Spa.

Andrew Green
